Apostle John W. Johnson, Jr. is a visionary faith leader, housing advocate, entrepreneur, and community developer dedicated to empowering individuals, families, and communities through ministry, affordable housing, economic development, and servant leadership.
A native of Charleston County and raised in Berkeley County, South Carolina, Apostle Johnson graduated from Berkeley High School and furthered his education at South Carolina State College and the Neilson Institute. Called to preach the Gospel at age eighteen and licensed at twenty-one, he later became an ordained Elder and National Evangelist for the Powerhouse of Deliverance Apostolic Church, Inc. For more than fifteen years, he traveled throughout the United States and Canada preaching and teaching the Gospel. Today, he serves as Overseer of the Powerhouse of Deliverance Apostolic Church, Inc., providing spiritual leadership and community outreach.
In 1997, Apostle Johnson founded the Wordtime Straight Out the Bible Conference in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. What began as a local gathering has grown into a respected annual conference focused on biblical teaching, leadership development, and spiritual growth.
His commitment to community transformation led to the founding of the Freedom Empowerment Building Program (FEBP) in 2012, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving housing conditions and strengthening underserved communities. Through strategic partnerships and grant funding, FEBP has secured nearly $1 million to provide home repairs, housing assistance, and affordable housing initiatives across multiple South Carolina counties.
Apostle Johnson is also a Certified Housing Counselor and Mortgage Processor, using his expertise to assist families with homeownership, foreclosure prevention, and financial stability. In 2022, he launched the Marketplace Ministry, equipping entrepreneurs and business leaders to achieve success while applying biblical principles in the marketplace.
In 2023, he founded SCRE Johnson Development Corporation, focusing on affordable housing development, real estate acquisition, construction partnerships, and property tax advocacy. Building on his passion for land preservation and economic empowerment, he co-founded the Black Landowners Development Initiative (BLDI) in 2026. The initiative helps landowners preserve ownership, develop residential communities, and create opportunities for generational wealth through strategic land development partnerships.
